Simon, bizarrely enough, has a working class London accent. And while I think it was a great idea to show that it wasn't just chinless wonder officers doing their bit for the war effort, it does raise all sorts of questions about class and positions in the hierarchy that the series doesn't even acknowlege, let alone address (the character otherwise has all the accoutrements of an "Oxford/military type", so I assume the accent was DMc's choice - possibly because he didn't want just to reprise Ashley-Pitt).
