LOLIllya: Bubble Bath

A little while ago, I finally asked [livejournal.com profile] lolmac about the incomprehensible (to me) references to Soviet Russia on ICanHasCheezburger. It seems there's a form of joke called the Russian Reversal - "In America, you watch television; in [Soviet] Russia, television watches you!" - which has been co-opted by the LOLcat phenomenon.

Obviously, there has to be some use for this joke relevant to our favorite Soviet Russian. This is what I've come up with so far. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling for the screencap!

LOLIllya: Not Want

Random semi-newbie question of the day: why is songfic looked down upon in some fanfic circles? I see people apologizing for it, or saying they don't read it, etc...

Anyway, I've got a scene in my missing scene (okay, that reads odd) that insists upon being songficcy - anachronistic songfic at that! - and I can't seem to write it properly while the back of my mind is wanting to apologize for its existence. Little advice, please?

Here's today's LOL... screencap from [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling , "The Bridge of Lions Affair". Caption ganked from [livejournal.com profile] lolmac 's LOLNotWant series.

Euchh, you're poisoned.

LOLIllya: Cumplaynt

Screencap from illyushadarling, as usual. Caption from my own crazy head, influenced by illyushadarling's musing on this scene and by fanon descriptions of George Dennel. (Is it one L or two, by the way? I need to know for the Winner By a Nose missing scene.)

LOLIllya: Monorail Spy

Okay, I have no idea if this caption works, but it's the best I could come up with. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling for the cap and for batting around caption ideas with me!

LOLIllya: Doin It Wet

You know you've got it bad when you find yourself seriously considering, in the same week, studying Russian literature and dissection lab - two subjects in which I for one have never before had the slightest interest.

(And you guys know you've got it bad because you know exactly what I've got even though I didn't specify. *g*)

Anyway. On to the LOL - many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling for the cap and to [livejournal.com profile] lolmac for cropping and captioning advice! (I say, Beth, how do you get your LOLs to post so much bigger than mine?)

ETA: Ooh, yes, that's much better. Ya think? Thanks, Beth!

LOLIllya: Rubber Ducky

"Start with nothing, take it away..." Sorry, wrong ep. ;-)

Start with Lothi's "Baby Ducky" pic (in the comments here), add one "Deadly Toys Affair" screencap just begging for a really tight crop, combine in the brain of a zoned-out and slightly hyper curuchamion, and stand back. Cross-fandom LOLs are potentially explosive.

(Y'all do know you can click through for a larger image, right? Just checking. *looks innocent*)

ETA: Now you don't have to! happy grin

LOLDoubleJack: His Fault

Another LOL... I love this image. In my Mac/Gate fanon 'verse, Mac and Jack are kinda-sorta twin brothers (Mac/Gatefans, you have read Variance of Luck, right?), and I still have an extremely hard time convincing myself that Robot Jack really wasn't played by RDA's long-lost twin.

(I so love the FX quality on SG-1...)

LOLIllya: Exersyzin

Well, the Winner By a Nose Affair "missing scene" is now longer than the rest of the Affair... I hope that's a good thing. We'll see.

I has a LOL for today. I have a strange feeling that I ought to say something about it, but we just watched a BBC film of Henry IV Part 2, and my brains all trickled out my ears. They cut at least half the dialogue and it was still over two hours long, and everybody was mumbling the whole time except the Archbishop of York. (And I still don't get why the great tradition of Shakespeare criticism finds Falstaff so lovable.)

LOLNapoleon: PuppyDog

Napoleon shows off his Halloween costume...

I am indebted to [profile] reera_the_red of FrameCapLib for the pic, to [livejournal.com profile] lolmac for the original caption (I quote her LOLPuppyEyes frequently), and to [livejournal.com profile] xparrot for calling this "Napoleon's beagle-ears hat".

Arf!

LOLIllya: Hangin Rown (plus bonus!)

The virus responsible for fandom LOLs has recently mutated, becoming extremely contagious. This is shown by its rapid transmission from Bedh to me to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling , who provided both the caption and the pic for today's first LOLIllya!

There is also another mutant strain of this virus going the rounds, which involves captioning fandom pictures with passages of poetry. The only confirmed case on my flist thus far is [livejournal.com profile] lothithil (who has been proven incurable), but I'm definitely showing symptoms - see today's bonus image. (Caption for this one from a Monkees song, actually.)

Luckily, both these virus strains are generally nonfatal, and so far have proven harmful only to those with a deficient sense of humor; however, if you notice symptoms... post them! (Or hand them off to me - I don't mind. Or if they're Mac/Gate related, to Beth.)

2009-10-28 10:24 am

Blame Lothithil! ;-)

All this stuff about zombies on my flist has reminded me of my first fanfic, Velocizompire Apocalypse. Which reminded me of Cairis Rin's awesome Mac/Gate epic Variance of Luck. Which reminded me of the SG-1 ep Double Jeopardy (proving once again that the ways of my brain are peculiar, which the same I am free to maintain - with apologies to Bret Harte.) So I went over to Stargatecaps.

This is the result. Don't ask me what the backstory behind this pic and caption is, because I don't know. It certainly isn't what it started out to be: an illustration for Velocizompire Apocalypse!

LOLMac: u can haz

I was planning to do a little more polishing/writing and post a fic, but, well... we're studying Shakespeare's Henry IV, and it's the most tiring read-through we've ever had. I've got to agree with John Masefield (who did an introduction to one of the editions we've got): this is not one of Shakespeare's better plays. It maunders on and goes nowhere, at least for the first three acts - we didn't get any farther - and most of the few jokes we understood weren't worth getting. I personally suspect he wrote it on an all-nighter the day before it was due with the help of several punny friends and way too much ale (no offence to any hypothetical Bardolatrists on my flist).

("Solo Mission" looks like coming along quite nicely, though, once my brain is awake enough to work on it... which, right now, it definitely isn't. But my mom lent me her mom's 1966 Merck Manual to look up concussions etc - it's fascinating and occasionally hilarious reading - and my dad knows more about manual-transmission Jeeps than he usually lets on, so... yeah. But the timeline has gone and corkscrewed itself right inside out.)

So, this is the only post I had the energy to do. Hope y'all like it... I suspect you will. ;-)

(Beth - I suspect I subconsciously stole this caption from you, but I'm so zonked I'm not even sure. If I did, sorry! Post the linky and I'll credit.)

Mine!

LOLIllyas: Bedtyme Storee and Bored Nao

I consider myself very lucky that, unlike Beth, I am not in the business of putting up a LOL every day. Today, that means you guys are lucky too, because you get two UNCLE LOLs! (Same pic, different crops, different captions, couldn't decide which was better.)

(I am so going to use up my upload limit. Is there an upload limit?)

ETA: Pic from [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling, The Very Important Zombie Affair. "Bored nao" caption inspired by [livejournal.com profile] lolmac 's LOLHostage and LOLMental.

ETA2: Came back to upsize the pics, having figured out how, but the blasted thing doesn't seem to like having "Explosion soon pls" be 500x500. Grr.

Boom!

LOLIllya: Whumping

Okay, this one started out as a bit of an in-joke, sort of a special thank-you to [livejournal.com profile] lothithil and [livejournal.com profile] lolmac for - well, general awesomeness really - but it sort of evolved, and I'm not really sure it makes sense that way anymore. The screenshot is from "The Children's Day Affair", if that helps any. (Oh, and many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling for the wonderful screencap!)

LOLJack: ASL

Terry Pratchett once said that if you read too much, you overflow and start writing. Apparently if I read too many [livejournal.com profile] lolmac s and then go over to [livejournal.com profile] rda_daily , I start making LOLJacks.

I have no idea if this is any good, but it was just so obvious, I had to do it. (Also, I wanted to test out the LJ image-inserting mechanism.)

iz ASL fer "Aht!"
