Okay, this is an odd bit of MFU dark!fic I wrote a while back. It's sort of a "Schrodinger's ficlet", in that I could waffle back and forth forever on whether it's any good... I hate those, because the only way to collapse the function is to post. o_O

Title: Useful [I am so imaginative, yeah? lol]
Summary: Illya is a supremely useful partner.
Notes: Gen, rated G. 200 words. Warning for dark!Napoleon.

Here goes, then )

Fandom meme

Oct. 3rd, 2010 11:10 am
Okay - [livejournal.com profile] togsos was doing this meme and I (being - like her - a "sleek fabulous lemming", lol) jumped on the bandwagon.

Rules: Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Togsos asked me about Sapphire and Steel, MFU, and Doctor Who, then added "but I would like a bonus set of the same answers on Star Trek next gen because it is a slide into fandom that is happening/evolving before my very eyes!" So, um, here's all that.

Under cuts, because you know how I ramble.

S&S under here ) MFU under here ) Who under here ) TNG under here )
So I ganked this from [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose, who made it up a few years back. I'm reading through her archives, because I'm bored and apparently Whovians all have fascinating LJ archives. ;-)

Multi-Fandom Fanfiction Meme (You had me at "multi-fandom". *g*)

The instructions )

WELL! That was interesting... I find that I can't write a Sapphire & Steel half-drabble on a Robert W. Service prompt. It just won't. But here are the other four. I am deliberately not thinking about whether they are any good; half-drabbles aren't long enough for me to form a complete thought anyway.

Doctor Who )

Legend )

Man from UNCLE )

Stargate SG-1 )
Okay, so the trouble with stopping by Wal-Mart to pick up a quick snack along with a new packet of blunt yarn needles, in between taking a tiring math placement exam and teaching an unexpected knitting lesson, is that their selection of quick-energy foods is somewhat limited.

And the trouble with buying Reese's Pieces (they were cheaper than the peanut M&Ms) is that I am then cracking up for the rest of the day.

Why do Reese's Pieces make me crack up? Because they remind me forcibly of The Reese's Affair by Loretta Ross. Which is ridiculously adorable and also makes me think of certain people on my flist. So I thought I'd share it with y'all.

Happy reading! ;-)
Probably most people on my flist who would be interested in this already know about it, but I thought I'd mention it anyway:

There is a brand-new Man from UNCLE comm specifically for picture squee. It's called [livejournal.com profile] mfu_yumdaily. Anyone can post any UNCLE-related picture at any time, including any shot of DMc or RV (and a good many of us already have)... or if you're looking for a specific image, you can do a search post!

Even if you're not familiar with the show - those are two very handsome guys right there. So take a look, if you please, and happy drooling! ;-)
Here's my entry for the [livejournal.com profile] mfuwss Exhibition Remix Challenge! It's actually not due till June 1, but I'm putting it up today so I'll just have to link it there on Tuesday. (This looks like being a busy week.)

Title: Fine Print (The Connections Remix)
Summary: Napoleon gets a wedding invitation from an old flame.
Notes: Gen, 455 words. Remix of "Fine Print" by [livejournal.com profile] theladyrose, located here on FFnet and here on network_command. Rated G.

Story under here... )
This one can be blamed on, or credited to, my sister; I was using the cap as a profile picture on my Facebook (yes, my longstanding habit of using not-me icons has carried over to Facebook) and this is what she commented. ;-)

Cap by [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling, of course, from "The Prince of Darkness Affair Part 1".

I really don't know if this is any good, but I think it's as good as it's going to get. Anyway, I need to get it off my mind and into the fresh air - is that a mixed metaphor? o.O

Title suggestions welcome.

Title: (no title)
Summary: mildly angsty "Say UNCLE Affair" tagfic.
Notes: Gen, double drabble. Makes a lot more sense if you've seen the ep. (Hulu will start charging for it on May 15 2010, so get over there now if you haven't!)

Ninja!Ducky and General Solo under the cut... )
Back to the ever-reliable "ur doin it rong"... this time with a crossover pun on the side. Hey, everybody does it. ;-)

(Screencap by [livejournal.com profile] illyushadarling from the Five Daughters Affair Part 1.)
I'm not very fond of April Fool's Day in general, but I seem to have written a rather cracky piece that (I hope) goes well with the day.

Title: Ruling the Roost
Summary: Napoleon's looking for a new apartment. Illya agrees to help.
Notes: Gen, rated G. 760 words. This bit of nonsense is dedicated to a certain portion of my flist... *winks*

Sanity is highly overrated. )

(Well, anyway, I hope you guys like it!)
This one is actually a team effort - caption suggested by [livejournal.com profile] spikesgirl58 about [livejournal.com profile] bluemeanybeany's Illya Therapy icon during an [livejournal.com profile] mfu_canteen discussion, screencap by [livejournal.com profile] reera_the_red on FrameCapLib. Me, I just put it all together.

(I've been meaning to do this one for months. Just kept never getting around to it...)

So - having randomly run across Noel Harrison in a '70s docudrama/biopic about Padre Eusebio Kino, of all things, and discovered that besides being a fairly good actor he's got a very nice smile and lovely hands - I've been watching some Girl from UNCLE on YouTube.

More on that when I've worked through the available episodes (I've only seen three so far)... my point right now is, that having got tired of no DMc, I slid over to Hulu.com because I'd never seen "The Say UNCLE Affair".

BAD idea when one really ought to be on a strict fluff diet. But anyway, I thought I'd do a bit of a review/reaction post.

Cut for mild spoilers... )
Okay, I apparently can has cuddlefic! Sweet!

No, I did not rip off [livejournal.com profile] primsong 's "Snowbound"... not intentionally, anyway. (Though I doubt I'll ever write a cuddlefluff that doesn't show your influence, Prim, nor do I want to. *g*) The original source of this bunny was a discussion question on [livejournal.com profile] mfu_canteen awhile back, "what would you do if you were snowed up with one of the guys?" This is my honest answer.

Title: Universal Constant
Summary: What would you do if you were snowed up in a cabin with Illya Kuryakin?
Notes: Gen and G-rated, as usual... hey, it's me. ;-) 200+ words.

Fluffity fluff! And also science. Sort of. )
Originally posted in [livejournal.com profile] eponymous_rose 's [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking . I keep writing these odd little crossover scenes - maybe I should collect them somewhere and call it Many Meetings. ;-)

Title: Intersections
Summary: Liz Shaw doesn't need a lab assistant.
Notes: Gen, rated G. 422 words. Doctor Who/Man from UNCLE crossover.

Clicky to read... )
I've finally come up with a response to [livejournal.com profile] dw100 drabble challenge #5, "love"... sort of. Who'd'a thunk "love" and #6 "hate" would be so hard to write on?

The original inspiration for this piece was [livejournal.com profile] georgiesmith 's remark, in her [livejournal.com profile] network_command review of The Quadripartite Affair, wondering what happened after the famous proto!IllyaTherapy scene - how did Napoleon calm scared!Illya down and get him back to HQ?

This take on that question is probably not what Georgie was envisioning. What can I say, I have a weird mind. ;-)

(And I apologize profusely for the punch line.)

Title: Artistic Verisimilitude
Summary: The things we do for our friends...
Notes: Gen, 100 words. "Quadripartite Affair" missing scene.

I have finally produced a new LOLIllya! (It's tricky, because I have a dual-boot computer, and the image editing software is on the OS I don't take onto the Internet - so poking through screencaps to save good ones, then cropping and captioning them, are two different projects. Anyway.) Caption inspired by [livejournal.com profile] lolmac 's LOLBouquet, but frankly it's more of an excuse to post an arm shot... I wish both boys had worn those Thrush jumpsuits more often!
... I appear to have written tagfic for one of the Man from UNCLE official novels? Something like that, anyway.

[livejournal.com profile] dw100 challenge #10 is "jokes". I believe I have [livejournal.com profile] cleothemuse to blame for this loose interpretation of the prompt - she was the one who wrote a set of Stargate fics where the team were making limericks in the infirmary, right?

Title: Convalescence
Summary: A peek inside UNCLE's medical section...
Notes: Gen, 100 words. Dialogue drabble - I seem quite fond of those.

Okay, I've more or less given up on trying to do these challenges strictly in order. I have an idea for challenge #6 "hate" (and a comic half-drabble, that I'm a bit too embarrassed to post, for #5 "love"), but the Letter to Santa meme that is going around has inspired me to write this piece. I'm calling it a response for challenge word #7, "confessions".

(Oh, and I should probably credit Pat Foley's "Red Retriever Affair" on File 40, specifically Illya's hilarious college application letter therein, for inspiration.)

Title: Dear St Nicholas
Summary: Illya writes a letter to Santa.
Notes: Triple drabble, gen. Comedy.

Naughty or nice? )
*sporfle* You know I had to do these! (But I didn't like the answer choices very much - they were almost entirely fanon rather than canon. I did both quizzes, but I think the result from the Napoleon one is more accurate... *g*)

Bagged from [livejournal.com profile] lothithil , but the direct link is here.

The first quiz I did (of course) was "Which Illya Kuryakin are you?" Answer is below. My reaction: "Heh, in my dreams!" (Sardonic, enigmatic, focused? I'm more like "accidentally rude, chatterbox, easily distracted".)

Which Illya Kuryakin are you?

this quiz was made by lyrebird

And this one was "Which Napoleon Solo are you?" I filled up the answers perfectly truthfully (yes, my favorite article of clothing really is a shoulder holster; I even put it on my Christmas list, but my sisters said "no way"), and here is the answer I got. Hee hee!

Which Napoleon Solo are you?

this quiz was made by lyrebird
Okay, these are not staying drabble-length very well.

Challenge word #3 was "alien" - the original intent as a Doctor Who challenge, of course, was space aliens, but I thought of a different sort of alien...

This is actually a concept I've been thinking about for a while. We usually see fics where Napoleon is the first person to help Illya feel welcome in New York, but that generally feels a bit contrived to me, plus I'm always interested in minor characters (I've written Siler-centric before now, for Pete's sake!) So here's a different take on the topic.

Title: In a Strange Land
Summary: What do you say to a Soviet Russian on the Fourth of July?
Notes: Gen, 400-ish words. Pre-series.
