"Say UNCLE Affair" reaction post

So - having randomly run across Noel Harrison in a '70s docudrama/biopic about Padre Eusebio Kino, of all things, and discovered that besides being a fairly good actor he's got a very nice smile and lovely hands - I've been watching some Girl from UNCLE on YouTube.
More on that when I've worked through the available episodes (I've only seen three so far)... my point right now is, that having got tired of no DMc, I slid over to Hulu.com because I'd never seen "The Say UNCLE Affair".
BAD idea when one really ought to be on a strict fluff diet. But anyway, I thought I'd do a bit of a review/reaction post.
I've never seen any A-Team before, and I don't think I'll be getting into it - Murdock is okay, but the rest of the characters bug me. And it is the '80s; oh, my, is it the '80s.
Robert Vaughn was good, as expected. He didn't age quite as well as David, but who does? ;-) And I've got quite a bit more respect for his acting ability after seeing this episode.
David, of course, was terrific. Luckily, I knew the "Illya" character in this story was evil before I watched it, or I'd be even more messed up than I am right now... but I still hadn't expected they could make it convincing. Note to self: Never underestimate David McCallum's acting talent.
Favorite parts - the hug, of course (what's with that? In the "AU!Illya is evil" show he hugs Napoleon; in the official reunion movie he punches him? *puzzled*), and the little scene where he gets to take out the junior A-Team guy in the parking garage. While wearing a bow tie. Ninja!Ducky FOR THE WIN!
(Also just any time he was on the screen. *grin* And the way his Russian accent came and went on command - it was amazing. His ear for these things always leaves me squeeing.)
But, yeah... now I am wondering about that fic somebody mentioned where they were really undercover and not hating each other, the whole time. Though they were so darn good in this ep, I seriously doubt it could work.
OTOH - snarky blond ninja in a bow tie. Really. I don't care what he did in Cuba, he had me totally on his side in this one.
*huggles the awesome*

Date: 2010-03-26 01:03 am (UTC)Besides I think in addition to messing with my head it would probably result in some pretty strange fanfiction from me.:P
But I do want to see the hug...do you know if there's a clip of the hug online,or where I can find a screencap?:)

(Using my Trainer John Grey icon here because he looks the part.)

Date: 2010-03-26 02:08 am (UTC)I used to watch the A Team just for Dirk Benedict (Face) I fell in love with him on Battlestar Galactica (pre-woobie sexual revolution) and never missed an ep of that, either. Also, I had huge affection for George Peppard (do not ask me to explain).
Wouldn't have missed it, angst or no. It's the chemistry between the RV and DMC that fires up my soul.
