30 Days of Telly meme yoinked from Calapine.

Day 05 - A show you hate: Perry Mason. How my family can watch whole discs of it end-to-end I do not understand. The plots are predictable, the acting is second-rate, the dialogue is cringe-inducingly '50s (with liberal applications of the "Oh, Robert! Whatever will we do?" school of writing), Raymond Burr looks like a raccoon in need of coffee, and the character I find most interesting and sympathetic is Lt Tragg. Which I gather is not what I am supposed to do. o.O

(This is of course all my opinion and if anyone disagrees violently with me I should like to hear about it. Squee at me hard enough about anything and I'm likely to give it a second chance.)

I've actually never seen Perry Mason because of an intense dislike of Raymond Burr..he's one actor that totally rubs me the wrong way. *shudders*

Perry Mason gets syndicated in the late afternoons where I live, and my brother watches it almost religiously. Boring as hell. You can totally tell it's been adapted from a radio program. Leonard Nimoy guested in an episode that aired the other day, though. And I derive great amusement out of parodying the show in my head, in which Perry Mason punches everybody. I also like to cross it over with the original Dragnet, with occasional dashes of Quincy, M.E. mixed in for the lulz.
